The Backstory

So here I am again... sharing the details :) This time its not about growing a big baby.... its about building a house. Another house. Our 4th house..... 3rd build. If I could do something other than what I do this would be it. I love every single aspect of building a house... from picking the site to laying out the floorplan to choosing the light fixtures. If you're reading this you probably remember the facebook traffic about 2 years ago when we built our Richmond Hill house.....While Ben was deployed..... We had to sell that one for our recent PCS to Ft Benning. Bitter sweet but the new owners love it so I'm ok with it :) Plus it gives me the chance to build again :) The original plan was to get a big hunk of land here and build a fully custom house.... Then I figured out that Ben was going back to real work and wouldnt have time to enjoy the land until he was done with the Army. So.... I got a realtor.... figured out what area we wanted to be in (schools/commute) and looked at what was available in the existing homes selection. Nothing for me. Thankfully, my realtor's husband is a custom homes builder. PERFECT! After lots of driving around, google maps, GIS, tax maps, questions, school reviews and commute measuring it turns out that they had already started a house in the area and even better.... the floorplan was nearly perfect :) Why the rush you ask? We just got here in June, right? Getting here was just step one. I never intended to stay in a rental. Ben said 'we're going to Benning and we need to be there on xyz. Find a place to live' (kinda) so I did. His commute is the shortest its ever been (besides the work from home deal). There are still boxes untouched in our current rental house. There have been minimal pictures hung, only in mason's room. we saved all the boxes from the PCS and I will move and unpack completely before the end of the year. Likely while Ben is out of pocket....again :) So... if you want to watch the progress.... see my details.... hear my rambling.... this is where its at :) I am currently obesessed with Houzz.com and of course Pinterest. A lot of the details and big design parts of this house are living in the head of the builder who has a big vision for this house. Like I've told him many times so far.... this was his project before I showed up. I'm not trying to change his idea I just want to add my few must haves.... the rest is up to him. Building beautiful homes is his thing.... I'm not trying to change that :)
