They are continuing with the exterior and prepping for paint on the interior. They are starting to clean up outside in prep for concrete and landscaping :)

Full Speed Ahead 22AUG2013

The roof is finished and the wet walls have been resolved. We are FULL SPEED AHEAD!
I dropped the kitchen sink off at the cabinet builder's shop last week.
and we have stone and brick! :)

The sun will come out.... tomorrow.

The builder is now aware of my unhappiness over the wet walls.
He had to get the roof fininshed before the depth of the problem could be accessed.
He knows I have pictures and he knows I'm concerned.
We will see where I goes from here.

He was not aware of my current profession. and if you dont know.... I'm basically a building construction inspector for the government. He knows now.

The sun came out today. Hopefully the roof is actually finished now and we can get on with the show (which should include some new sheetrock and a little new insulation)

Major MileSTONES :) 1AUG2013

Monday I brought my parents from Callaway Gardens to see the house. The builder met us there and turns out the cabinet guy got there about the same time we did. So i quick looksie trip turned into a cabinet layout sesh. Joe, the builder, had called me about a kitchen he'd seen in Southern Living and wanted to see if the look of the cabinets was something I'd be interested in. We had chatted previously about symmetry and cabinets to the ceiling as well as not doing the standard microwave over the stove.
He showed me this:

um...yes please. :) This is the 2013 SL Idea house in Nashville. Love the lines and the layout of the upper cabinets and the symmetry of the whole space. We wont do this color and out island wont be this big but this is definitely the "inspiration" picture for the kitchen view from the great room.

Between Joe, Jimmy, myself and some input from my mom we got the island laid out and gave Jimmy enough info to get back to the shop and work up his plan. Drawers on the lowers, uppers to the ceiling, the boxy hood build out, 4 spots for barstools and a microwave you cant see unless you're standing in front of it..... Now I'm shopping for my apron front sink.... thinking about the light fixtures over the island and trying to figure what color those cabinets are going to be. The island will be red :)

Wednesday we met Kim to get some guidance on selecting the brick, stone and exterior colors. YAY! Its August! We have roughly 3 months til closing?! Sa-weeet!

Framing is done and they've started the exterior finish. Board and Batten Hardie siding and Hardie shakes
